A tribute for Mom’s

What’s a Mom without a list? I live by lists. Today I share a list of honour.

The Top 10 Reasons I have the best role model Mom friends.

Cheers to:

  1. You. For Keeping It Real — You would grab my hand across the table as we swap Mom stories and say, me too! You know exactly how I feel and when to show up when I need you the most.

2. You. For Wearing My shoes — Some of you literally and all of you figuratively!

3. You. For Being Cool With Imperfections — We’ve all seen each other without makeup! We don’t care if each other’s house is clean, or what we each look like on a bad hair day. And lately, even the little grey’s poking out are a sign of experience. Through it all, you accept me as I am and love me for my true self.

4. You. For Knowing When To Say “That Sucks” — We can call each other, day or night, just to just talk or just vent. Even though I may not want to talk about it, you don’t feel the need to fix it — or fix me. All I need sometimes is a little validation.

5. You. For Having My Back — Trust is important in any relationship. Friendships are truly genuine when you have trust. What I love the most is that I know you defend me in my absence.

6. You. For Understanding — When our plans sometimes get cancelled, you don’t throw a hissy-fit. You get that sh!t happens, and we reschedule.

7. Us. For Having So Much In Common — We enjoy the same activities, we love creating memories together, and we’ve bonded over many things we love.

8. You. For Being Dependable — Our lives are full of responsibilities, and there is no room for friends you can’t depend on. I love that you follow through when I need you, and you’re someone who will jump to my aide without me asking.

9. Us. For Having Fun Together — Over the years, we’ve needed breaks from being mom’s from time to time. But sometimes, we’ve even taken breaks with our kids. So knowing you’re a friend I can spend time with — and belly-laugh with — is a great way to blow off steam and rejuvenate ourselves.

10. You. For Inspiring Me to be a Better Me — to be a better version of myself. You’ve each helped me over the years be a better mom and a better overall person. I see your individual and collective deep depths of patience and nurturing ways. It pushes me to tap into my own. I watch how you treat others with empathy, understanding, and love. I emulate your attitude and follow your path. I want you all to know the qualities that make you an incredible friend—are the same awesome qualities that make you an amazing role model Mom.

WOW!

Wishing you all a Happy Mother’s Day!

PS: Three important PS’s.

PS1: To my amazing kids, Meghan & Mike — while I’m far from perfect at it, I’m honoured, blessed, and so very lucky to be your Mom. You’ve given me the most amazing experience of my life. Motherhood. You give me so much purpose, pride, and endless possibilities for learning, living, and loving.

PS2: To my awesome husband Doug — who really deserves the Mom-of-the-Year award! Thank you for all the things you do for us, for me, in the name of family.

PS3: To my own Mom, whose picture you’d see under 3 words in the dictionary. Strength. Determination. Family. She defines all 3 of these qualities, and I am forever “inDEBted” to her for teaching me the importance of friendships and the true meaning of a loving family and creating a loving home. Happy Mothers Day! I love you Mom.

Fondly & “inDEBted” …
